Irène Hänni was born in Basle, Switzerland, in 1964. Since 1995 she exhibits her works regularly in official art spaces in Switzerland and Europe.

Her oevre consists of artist's books, photographs, photo-works consisting of many different layers, light installations and videos or animated films.

Several contributions by companies or different cultural commissions allowed her to realize her works.

Irène Hänni is Member of vfg Vereinigung Fotografischer GestalterInnen, Basler Künstlergesellschaft (since 2017), of Visarte Switzerland and Zentralschweiz (since 2012), as well as of SSWA Swiss Society of Women Artists in the Visual Arts (since 2010), Kunst Schwyz (since 2005) and Forum Künstlerbuch Basel (since 2004).
